Fabio de Faria Cruz, singer and composer, was born on January 19, 1981 in Campinas SP, in Brasil.
The last 10 years he is working in Greece, dedicated in the spreading of brasilian music and culture.
At the age of 13, having acquired experience from the choir “Coral Campinas” he started singing in local bars.
His professional career has started in 1999, as a singer and percussionist in the band Folefurado. This cooperation offered him the possibility to participate on the one hand in the recording of the CD “Cooperativa Brasil Ao Vivo” and on the other hand to work together with important musicians of the brasilian musical scene such as Dominguinhos, Zeca Baleiro, Elba Ramalho, Mestre Ambrósio, Bicho de Pé, Trio Virgulino, and Trio Nordestino.
This CD was so successful that Fabio had the chance to give concerts in famous theatre and bars like “Canto da Ema e Projeto Equilíbrio (SP)’’, ‘’Teatro Asa Branca (RJ)’’, ‘’Sesc Campinas’’, ‘’La Pedrera E Café Cancun (SC).”

In 2003, he moved to Bahia where he spent a year playing and singing in bars with different groups.
In 2006, right after his arrival in Greece, he founded together with the Brazilian musician Ericsson Lapa the band “Banda Macamba”. Their repertoire included Samba Funk, Samba rock and Samba Reggae, and they performed in major greek music theatres like “Mylos” in Thessaloniki and “Stavlos” in Athens. “Banda Macamba” also participated in the Eurovisioff Festival in Athens.
Fabio is also the founder of two other bands playing Brazilian music, “Mistura Fina” and “Calangos”.
With these bands Fabio has performed in many European cities such as Paris, Bordeaux, Marseille (France), Salzburg (Austria), Bologna (Italy) and in Birmingham (UK).
As a self-taught musician after 15 years of being active in composing (he has written more than 100 songs) playing and singing. He produced his first independent recording in 2012. Top Greek musicians are participating in this CD : Yiorgos Kaloudis (cello) Nikos Papadopoulos (arrangements and co-production ) and George Tsiatsioulis (accordion). This CD, “Contexto” is not limited to one music style kind, but includes a variety of the main Brazilian music genres.
Fabio is working as a capoeira teacher and is taking lyrical vocal lessons by the soprano Martha Arapi.

Calangos project:
In 2009 Fabio founded the group “Calangos” in order to spread in Greece the most famous musical rhythm and dance originating from north eastern Brasil : Forró.
Forró is a captivating rhythm that makes you want to dance …freedom in movement, improvisation and vividness are Forró’s main features.
Since 2009 many different musicians have participated in the band but at the moment “Calangos” has 4 regular members: Fabio Cruz (singer), Ericsson Lapa (percussion) ,Konstantinos Mihalakis (accordeon) and Agis Papapanagiotou(bass) .
