B and The Hive

Beautiful concert! Great Venue!

Always such a great time listening to them. Can’t wait to see the next show at the Lighthouse in Avila Beach.

There's a long back story to this review. I first heard Breanna in 2014 in Shell Beach during an informal jam at the ocean. She was singing softly on the sidelines from where we were playing, and I moved closer to her to confirm what I thought I was hearing. It took me a couple of minutes to get her to open up that voice, but, when she did, it was one of those seminal moments where I knew I was in the presence of a genuine talent. Since then, I worked with her and her amazing husband, Josh Barrett, on Brian Jeffrey's first album, and did a couple of guest appearances with the band pre covid. So, I was going to the gig as a fan who hadn't heard them in several years. In the interest of full disclosure, being a musician, I evaluate bands from a different perspective than the average listener. I hear minor mistakes that no one else catches, and am likely to focus on what each performelor creates to form the total sound. And I was treated to two hours of magnificent vocals from Breanna, with backing from Josh and the keyboard player, Emily, some amazing bass lines from Josh, clean and tasty jazz inspired lead work from Jake (whom I had never heard before), and flawless drum work by Hayden Gardner, who has come a long way from his days when I heard him on Cajon at the beach. They're doing the AG summer concert series on the 23rd in the park behind the Village at 1:00, and if you go, you won't be disappointed. So don't pass up this opportunity to hear that voice which still sent chills down my spine last Sunday!

Professional and positive music for all ages ! Great harmonies and tight ! Love Love Love B and the Hive! And the hawks and blue jays all loved it too! Even the cows! Everyone was uplifted!!
