About Mira Awad:
Singer, songwriter and actress.
Born in Rama village in the Galilee, to Palestinian father-Anwar, and Bulgarian mother-Snejanka, currently living in Tel-Aviv.
Studied at the Rimon School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
Mira has collaborated with a wide range of world-famous musicians, from Noa (Achinoam Nini) on her album "Now", Idan Raichel, Greek singer George Dalaras, hip hop artist Guy Mar, international star Andrea Bocelli and the one and only Bobby Mc'Ferrin. Mira worked as an actress with the Tel-Aviv Cameri Theatre, she also was the Eliza Doolittle in the renown musical "My fair lady", and stars on the highly rated TV series "Arab Labor". She featured in the movie "The Bubble" directed by Eytan Fox, appeared in the movie "Zaytoun" by director Eran Riklis, and "Farewell Baghdad" by director Nissim Dayan and recorded the theme songs for the films "Forgiveness" by director Udi Aloni, and "Lemon tree" by Eran Riklis. She participated in the 5th season of the Israeli version of "Dancing with the stars". She participated in the Eurovision song contest 2009 alongside Noa with the song "There must be another way" from their duet album carrying the same name, released by Universal Music. Her debut solo album "Bahlawan-Acrobat" was released in May 2009, and was produced by famous guitarist Amos Ever-Hadani. She was signed as a Sony Spain artist in 2011 and released her second album "All my faces" with musical producer Carlos Jean.
In 2013 she went independent, created her own label named LabelFree and is currently working on her 3rd album.
Mira is very much active in enhancing awareness concerning the status of the Arab minority inside Israel, fighting for their equal rights, recognition and proper representation. She is also identified with the agenda of dialogue and co-existence, raising a call for human solidarity everywhere in the world. In 2013 Mira established the Mira Awad Grant that she hands out in her old high school to encourage youth to follow their dreams.
