About April Towers
Nottingham has undergone something of a musical resurgence in recent months, with the likes of Indiana, Sleaford Mods and Ronika all having released critically acclaimed albums.
Following in their footsteps are APRIL TOWERS, the latest act to emerge from the city’s creative hub.
After the release of their acclaimed single Modern Psyche late last year, the Nottingham lads immediately hit the studio with award winning, Aussie producer, Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice, Foals) to start work on their new EP Silent Fever. Drawing on the duo’s colourful spectrum of musical influences, the title track is musical hydration, as it combines light melodies with fulfilling bass tones and experimental synths and has been signed to forward thinking Indie label Lab Records.
Acclaimed website Gigwise has hailed the new single saying, “It's time to dance away the winter blues, as 'Silent Fever' is a blisse-out inescapably infectious disco-rock banger, immediately transporting you to far more tropical climbs in a way that we haven't heard since Friendly Fires. The world is a bright place with you, April Towers.”
Despite having only formed in August 2013, the duo of Alex Noble (vocals, guitars & keyboards) and Charlie Burley (production, samples, guitars & keyboards) have already received tremendous support from BBC Introducing’s Dean Jackson. Earlier this year, Drowned In Sound featured them as one of their favourite new discoveries of 2014 while Crack In The Road labelled them, “a band to watch for the remainder of this year and beyond.”
April Towers played their first show in February of this 2014, and have gone on to play Dot To Dot and Tramlines festivals during the summer as well as support slots with Indiana and Tove Lo. 2015 has seen a full touring schedule with Dot to Dot, Ibiza IMS and Lovebox.
Combining influences ranging from pioneering artists such as Jon Hopkins, Aphex Twin, LCD Soundsystem and Radiohead and a pop sensibility that recalls the likes of Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark and Cut Copy.
With four singles regualarly played including one playlist on BBC Introducing 2015 was a early winner.
With the single ‘A Little bit of fear’ highlights the duo’s knack for marrying incisive pop hooks with dizzying electronica and being licensed to the FIFA 16 game has gibven the band a more global audience with over a million streams.
With the Silent Fever Ep coming in April 16 and a supporting 8 dtae UK tour, this year is setting the band up even stronger.
