About Jeremiah Abiah

Composer, songwriter, and arranger Jeremiah Abiah is an accomplished recording artist. Known by his legion of fans as ABIAH, his foray in classical, jazz, folk, pop, and R&B, have been lauded globally. At 23 years old, ABIAH left a lucrative opera career in Italy and moved to New York City, where he made his opera recital debut at Carnegie Hall.

ABIAH is an anomaly and feels comfortable moving through various music genres. His compositions are influenced by the American Songbook while merging unique textures throughout his compositions. These leanings can be heard in his original recordings from four distinct solo projects including his debut album, Chasing Forever, which he wrote and produced and yielded him a top 10 single, “Love For A While,” featuring Shanice Wilson. “Love For A While” gained him international acclaim and a loyal following with regular appearances on VH1 Soul, MTV, and BET J. Abiah subsequent offerings include Life As A Ballad, Bottles, and his current release, ABIAH sings NINA.

Expanding his career beyond the recording industry, ABIAH partnered with three-time Grammy Award producer Robert Glasper as the vocal producer on the soundtrack, Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone for the award-winning Netflix documentary, “What Happened Miss Simone.” The album features Lauryn Hill, Common, Lalah Hathaway, Usher, Gregory Porter, Jazmine Sullivan and Nina Simone’s daughter, Lisa Simone.

ABIAH composed the theme song “Little By Little” for Nickelodeon’s “Little Ballers,” which the film was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. He also composed “September,” and “Foolish Heart” for the television series, “An African City” on the digital platform, VHX.

Recently, ABIAH vocal produced “August Greene,” the self-titled album featuring the award-winning supergroup with Karriem Riggins, Common, and Glasper. Some of his earlier career achievements include compositions produced on indie label SU Recordings; TV commercials, and background work with George Michael, Yolanda Adams, and Chuck Mangione.

ABIAH is a graduate of the famed Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Voice Performance from Syracuse University; and his Master’s Degree in Voice Performance from the New England Conservatory. Currently, ABIAH is a Professor of Voice at Berklee College of Music.
