About Bagatelle
Bagatelle are an Irish rock band who have been playing since the early 1970s. The band's career started in August 1978 and saw the band playing at full steam in the United States and Canada, England and Ireland, earning several gold and platinum albums and singles along the way.
The band produced several hits throughout the years such as "Summer in Dublin", "Second Violin", "Love is the Reason" and "Leeson Street Lady". "Summer in Dublin" was a classic overnight success when it was first released in 1978, and captured the heart of the nation. It was followed by a string of hits which have earned Bagatelle a historic place in Irish rock alongside U2, Thin Lizzy, The Cranberries and Van Morrison. Bono himself has commented on the impact that Bagatelle had on U2 in the early days of their career.
Bagatelle has shared stages with artists such as Bob Marley, Don McClean, Jose Feliciano and many, many more. They have had albums produced by Phil Coulter and the late great Gus Dudgeon, who produced for David Bowie and Elton John. They also appeared on the now famous "Self Aid" concert in the mid-1980s with U2 and Van Morrison, as well as performing to sell- out concerts of their own in the RDS, Dublin.
When the original Bagatelle got together to re-form the band in 1992, Polygram (now Universal), their record label, decided to release "The Best of Bagatelle and Liam Reilly", and followed this with Bagatelle Gold.
Incorporating a melodic rock sound with a strong lyric content, Bagatelle have captured a slice of classic rock history which still appeals to the ever expanding army of fans, new and old.
The band continues to attract large audiences at live performances.
