About The Last Skeptik

Arriving in a hail of concussion-inducing drums, waved synths and an orchestra of live musicians, This Is Where It Gets Good is the painfully honest, highly cinematic, sophomore solo project from producer The Last Skeptik. Navigating a dark, twisted journey through surviving in London, battling with mental health problems and coming out the other side, its all here on this soundtrack to a movie that hasn’t yet been made. This is electronic music at its most raw and emotional, with undeniable inspiration from classic records by Unkle and Cinematic Orchestra, with the root in Skeptik’s hip-hop upbringing. Already supported by Complex, BBC Radio One and 1xtra, Unilad and The Quietus, Skeptik’s new album is being received as nothing short of an eclectic masterpiece. Featuring guest appearances from man of the moment Kojey Radical, grime pioneer Trim, the Chase and Status collaborator Takura, upcoming pop star Matt Wills and many more, the talented vocalists narrate this beautifully produced and entirely engulfing album. From his fantastically diverse, cinematic solo debut entitled ‘Thanks For Trying’ released on BBE Records, DJ, producer and composer The Last Skeptik has continued on a genre-defying journey through electronic music and beyond. Following in the footsteps of J Dilla and Pete Rock, Skeptik took it leftfield, adding an orchestra of musicians over neck-snapping rooted in electronic hip hop production, and has consistently lauded by press, fans and radio alike every since. Recent years have seen Skeptik produce for the UK’s best and most diverse artists, from Giggs, Trim, Lunar C, Mikill Pane, Kojey Radical, Matt Wills, and Scrufizzer to name a few, tour around globe, have mixes on rotation on Noisey, I-D, BBC1xtra, DefJam.com and BBC Radio One, as well as composing the soundtrack to a BAFTA nominated short film, Vice’s documentary on ATL Stripclubs, adverts for Adidas, Puma, Greenpeace, Powerade and Reebok, and the BBC. The beginning of 2017 had Skeptik collaborate with Dream Mclean on an E.P; containing the single ‘Doing Bits’ which had over 200k combined views, becoming a cult classic immediately. Skeptik’s incredible 9 piece band show incorporating some of the country’s best live musicians has already lit up stages from around the UK and as a DJ, performing scene stealing DJ sets around the world, from Coachella to SXSW, touring in India and the Middle East to supporting Charli XCX on her U.S tour, and opening for the likes of 2Chainz, The Libertines, Childish Gambino, and Wu Tang Clan, resident at London tastemaker spot Visions, performing in Damon Albarn’s Africa Express, and tour DJ-ing for Doc Brown. Skeptik’s monthly Thanks For Trying Podcast goes from strength to strength, selling out theatres and hosting special guests such as Katherine Ryan, Rizzle Kicks, Kurupt FM, Ed Skrein, Doc Brown, Georgia King among many others.
