About Celtica

Celtica is a band, performing Celtic music. Tammera Lane performs several Medieval instruments, including hammered dulcimer, double-bowed psaltrey, hurdy gurdy, Celtic harp, vocals if applicable, etc. Primarily, Tammera is a classically trained pianist, and has taken various Irish tunes, and arranged them into hauntingly beautiful music, which is indicative of Celtica's style. Tim Dooley is Celtica's guitarist. He wonderfully fills out the Celtica experience ; and besides guitar, he brings his own array of instruments/Mandolin/Bohdran Drum/and vocals as well. Carolyn Dutton brings a very Irish sound to the group with her amazing fiddling. Having performed violin/fiddle in New York for 30 years, in many various genres, such as classical, gypsy jazz, folk, etc. she is a wonderful addition to the unique sound that makes up Celtica. Jeff Foster can play guitar upside down and backwards. He plays classical, flamenco, jazz, rock, blues, and has taught on the collegiate level. Clancy Clements plays a variety of bagpipes and penny whistles. Some of the pipes are Galician, Renaissance, Uilleann, Highland, etc. Tom Lozano is frequently a guest musician with Celtica. Tom is a world-renown hurdy gurdy player, and comes with unusual percussion as well. If the need arises, there are other musicians who are available to perform, each with their particular expertise in bagpipes, folk flutes/whistles, fiddle, etc., especially for larger presentations. Celtica can be upbeat, or be, what could be called, Celtic chamber music. Even though it is folk, Celtica can be as sophisticated as folk instruments will allow, with their alternative arrangements and “early music” interests. Celtica is a unique show/presentation, with interesting information about the historic instruments and tunes. And Celtica can also be really cool background music for any event. Either way, Celtica is a one-of-a kind and memorable performance.
