About Tera Melos

Roseville, CA's Tera Melos is an epic, complex, and spastic band that incorporates jazz, ambient electronics, prog-like song structure, and hardcore punk all in one to create an original math-rock like sound never heard before.

After releasing a four song demo, they released their debut untitled full-length on October 4th, 2005. The full length was comprised of eight songs, most of which having a sound akin to math-rock, post-hardcore, and post-rock. Untitled has been re-issued in 2008 on Sargent House.

Right before they started recording their new LP Drugs To The Dear Youth, one of the guitarists, Jeff Worms, left the band. On January 19th, 2007, Tera Melos released the LP on Sargent House. 'Drugs' for short, was a step away from the sort of post-hardcore sound they had before and farther into more progressive and math-rock regions. In Novemebr of 2007, they released a split with By The End of Tonight entitled "Complex Full of Phantoms." This album was the first to feature vocals

Tera Melos have over the past few years, developed a cult-like fan base around the United States and have recently gained some popularity in Japan, United Kingdom, and various other European countries.

Their live shows aren’t something to miss. Gone are their old four-piece antics where they typically ran around playing like a hardcore band, hanging from ceilings, doing cartwheels. Now a three piece the focus is more on the music vs the spazz, where they will blow your minds with the speed and grace in which they play.

Their most recent release is a split with By the End of Tonight called "Complex Full of Phantoms" released on Temporary Residence in November 2007. Their side of "Complex Full of Phantoms" was a step towards a tighter, more accessible "pop" sound. Vocals (contributed by guitarist Nick Reinhart) permeate a good chunk of the album. Instrumentally, the songs are less ferocious, but attack a larger, more diverse range of sounds and feels.

Tera Melos is scheduled to release a second full length in 2008 on Sargent House.
