Shad

Shad is a Canadian rapper with four solo albums under his belt, an alt-pop side-project, a Master's degree in Liberal studies and numerous accolades.

While his three commercially-released rap records were nominated on the short list of the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, TSOL won the 2011 Rap Recording of the Year at the Juno Awards. Since then, Shad has also elevated his practice by emerging as a vital broadcaster: after hosting CBC Radio’s q, he went on to host Hip-Hop Evolution, which earned both a prestigious Peabody Award and an International Emmy Award.

Shad has received critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork ("a new standard bearer for positive rap"), Okayplayer ("Quick-witted tongue, on-point ear, and truly unique passion for hip hop”), The Guardian ("Canada's nicest MC"), and others. He has appeared on recent projects by A Tribe Called Red, Skratch Bastid, Tanya Tagaq, and Homeboy Sandman, and toured clubs and festivals all over North America including Sasquatch, Massey Hall, Osheaga, NXNE, and Soundset.
