About Thick Red Wine
Thick Red Wine is the musical word project of Philadelphia DIY artist Mike Wojciechowski. Strange thoughts about life were first set to chords via cheap microphones and sent to friends back in 2011.
Since then, the project has moved between Chicago, Austin, San Francisco and Philadelphia. 1 album, 2 singles and 1 EP have been released. Many band members, collaborators and friends have helped through the years.
Veering between punchy punk-folk and spoke-sung indie rock, the words and stories behind the songs are what make Thick Red Wine unique.
Sad but sweet. Dark but humorous. Narratives drawing inspiration from 5th grade recess fights, college house party disasters, bad Ikea trips, baking cookies and boxed wine among other things.
Whether playing as a four piece band at a bar or as a solo performer at a house venue, Thick Red Wine performances abound in energy & provoke an almost-uncomfortable intimacy.
