Weed

There are two DIFFERENT bands with the name Weed. The first was from Germany and only released one album, titled "Weed...!", which was released in 1971. THIS is the Weed responsible for the songs "Sweet Morning Light, "Lonely Ship," "My Dream," "Slowin' Down," "Before I Die," and "Weed." These tracks are NOT by the more recent Weed from Poland. Their sound was defined by relaxing, cutting edge blues guitar work, organs, piano, and peace/love lyrical themes.

The 2nd Weed was formed in 1999 in Warsaw, Poland. The band members are: Bukaj (vocals), Kurek (guitars), Froy (bass) and Voope (drums) There is no original theory behind the name. "We chose WEED because it was short and easy to remember" However, it is often confused with the slang name for cannabis. "We thought "weed" stands for a destructive plant. Come on! We are really good boys... Believe it or not, music is our only addiction" This addiction seems to serve them well. Since the first live performance in 2000 Weed has already played 250 gigs. "Our music is quite popular because it's full of energy and passion. Besides, while many bands are very static on stage, we are like a pride of lions comming in for the kill". "Our music is all about rythm and energy" As any other band, weed does not like comparisons to other bands. "We're definitely influenced by System of a down or Red Hot Chilli Peppers but we don't want to copy any of them." Therefore, they came up with a term "Pumping Core" to describe their music. Weed's popularity is constantly growing, especially since 2004, when their first EP was released. "Insect" is gaining good press reviews as well as new fans. The band won many competitions and festivals and now they are preparing to record a full lenght album.
