Usurp The King

Usurp the King was formed after old childhood friends, Vinny and Tom Scotti ran into Steven Drizis at a Big Four Concert. The three had a history of playing together in their grade school band "Fallen Angels" with Steven and Thomas on guitars and Vinny on drums. Vinny and Steve starting jamming out material they had been saving up, and brought the music to Tom who added his unique touch. The three searched long and hard for a bassist to complete their band, until they rediscovered Mike Serra, an old friend of Vinny's who hadn't spoken to the Scotti's in a while. They picked up right where they left off. All that was left was finding an awesome singer. Steve received a craigslist e-mail from Jordan Vincent, who was interested in trying out for Usurp the King. When he came to try out, the band knew that they had found their very own screamin' demon in Jordon's voice. Summer of 2013 marked the beginning of UTK's journey. They played some relatively unknown gigs and gradually made a name for themselves for their unique style within the local metal scene. All of that culminated on September 20th 2013 when they released their first EP, titled THE UPRISING. The EP is a 3 song record which gave a small taste to the creative prowess of the fast growing group. Through 2014 Usurp The King played memorable gigs, including opening for mutliple national & worldwide known recording artists. They have opened and shared the stage with the likes of PRIMER 55, KING'S X, SHADOWS FALL, and even thrash metal legends DEATH ANGEL. One year later after the band's debut, they began recording their first Full-Length LP. While the record was in post-production, unfortunately it was announced in August of 2014 that front-man and lead singer Jordan Vincent had quit the band due to "personal and creative" differences. This brought the release of the LP to a delay which is still tentatively scheduled for a release sometime in 2014. Currently Usurp The King is continuing to steamroll the local metal scene, and expand their sound beyond the ears of local enthusiasts who have already given them their stamp of approval. Auditions are underway for a new lead singer, and the ambition to take over Heavy Metal is as confident as it has ever been.
