About True Vibenation

Blending earth shattering bass, big brass, African rhythms and hip-hop, True Vibenation signal a new generation of artists making the music of true global citizens.

Drawing from their African heritage and raised in the cultural migrant melting pot of Australia their sound takes influence in equal parts from Fela Kuti, Hugh Masekela and The Daptone Horns as it does from Outkast, Ta-Ku and Chet Faker.

It has been a whirlwind end to the year for the Sydney based trio. Upon landing in the UK ahead of their appearance at Glastonbury Festival and debut Europe Tour their new song ‘The World Is Ours’ started gathering some serious steam, peaking at #1 on Spotify’s Viral chart for the UK and #4 globally.

The stage was set for their barnstorming show at Glastonbury Festival and the trio delivered on their reputation, drawing one of the biggest crowds of the day on their stage and whipping the crowd in to a frenzy. The next six weeks saw True Vibenation continue their European adventure, wowing fans at festivals across the UK, Germany, Austria and Portugal.

Back in Australia the momentum has continued to snowball with the infectious tune added to Triple J, Double J, FBI and community radio across the country as well as gathering support from taste maker blogs such as Afropunk, Indieshuffle and Acid Stag amongst others. There was no rest for the buzzing trio though and within weeks of landing back home they were on the road again, this time getting the call up to support LA legends Ozomatli on their Australia tour.

The trio – made up of Vuli, Moody and Klue - has already had a mammoth 12 months which has seen them tour Africa, earning rave reviews and new fans before being handpicked to support Thievery Corporation on their recent Australian tour. All the while soaking up inspiration and working behind the scenes in the studio on new music.

Made up of twins * VULI* and Moody and childhood friend Klue, the inner-west Sydney trio have developed a strong following thanks to a live show which revels in making you dance in a semi ʻspecialʼ, unselfconscious way and songs that combine infectious hooks and razor sharp raps with roaring horns and genre-bending electronic beats. They even have a self- made instrument that literally turns audience members into human drum machines!

It is rare to leave a True Vibes live show without being converted by their infectious energy and with hundreds of shows under their belts, festival slots at Sydney Festival, Future Music, Secret Garden, Subsonic and Small World their fan base is only set to continue to grow exponentially.

Their compositions range from conscious, soulful hip hop to post-Brainfeeder type bass music, to afro-funk/hip hop fusions that bring the brass skills in to play, all rolled up with high IQ and a big dose of creative fun. True Vibe have built solid foundations."

Tony Edwards, The Brag

"The diversity of material, easy stage presence, and sheer musicality was on display for all to see, these guys have got mad skills, the sky’s the limit.... these guys are the complete package, combining effortless flows with a full on ‘live’ show."
