About The Walking Who

The Walking Who are an Australian psych, electronic rock quad- Rohin Brown, Paul Mclean, Steve Hicks and Brad Heald. At the end of 2015 they released their sophomore album entitled “Lewiside” which was recorded across their travels around the world. The last two years have been huge for the band, receiving blog cred from around the world and packing in two European tours including a rammed show in London: “One of my favourite gigs of the year” - Maz Tappuni Communion/XFM”. In 2014, their single “With Roses” was in FBI Radio’s Top 10 most played tracks and received airplay on Triple J, BBC 6 and XFM. NME Magazine highlighted the song and band: “Walking a careful line between the sounds of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Deerhunter.” The band won Sydney FBI Radio’s coveted ‘Northern Lights’ competition, which took them to Iceland to play ‘Iceland Airwaves Festival’. Not taking this opportunity lightly the guys packed their swags for the long haul to spend a week in Iceland recording and gigging and then reached as many other cities as they could ‘ticking off’ Holland at ‘Le Guess Who’ festival, then London, Germany and Italy. In Australia, the band has played Newtown Festival, Big Sound, Volumes, King St Crawl, Farmer and The Owl, Yardfest and their own headline shows across the country. The Walking Who made their European return in July 2015 to discover more of the Italian countryside playing a solid run of shows, London Citadel Festival and another solo London headline show at iconic ‘Old Blue Last’. This coincided with their single “My Future Wife” which The 405 premiered: “a burlesque gypsy psychedelia, spirals of dark sound like candlelight shivering in a dank breeze”. “For us it’s an album that came at the cost of friendships, relationships and the trust of the kind people who believed in us. Not because of some dated notion of how you should behave when you’re in a band. But because making a record in 2015, on the favours of those around you, is hard”. Lewiside. In 2017 The Walking Who will return and welcome two new members Brad Heald (The Vines, Dope Lemon & Red Riders) & Steve Hicks (Den, Lemon & Sydney Keyboard Society)- TWW will be playing a serious of warm up shows in May/ June 2017 and releasing new music next month, promising a new album by the end of the year. FBI Radio: “This is their time – so pay attention”. Pilerats: “comparison to the likes of The Flaming Lips, Future Islands and more coming thick and fast”. Tone Deaf: "One of the most exciting and innovative sounds to emanate from Aussie shores.
