About theVision

When Philadelphia’s theVision hit the scene in 2021, their almost-immediate upward trajectory could not have been anticipated. Having only a handful of shows under their belt as a group, they’ve made a splash, which is quickly building into a wave. Taking cues from the early 2000’s emo and post-hardcore scene and bands like Circa Survive, Story of the Year, and Taking Back Sunday, theVision insert an energy into their songs that is undeniably familiar.

After years of performing as a singer/songwriter, vocalist Nick Arnott met guitarist Bill Emsley as coworkers and their musical bond had them forming a band in 2019. Drummer Anthony Doria (formerly of Long Shore Drive) joined the band after meeting through mutual friends. Soon after, the local scene introduced them to bassist Chris Sheldon (formerly of Seventh Wave/Audio Impulse). After a few shows as a 4-piece in mid-2021, the band added Sheldon’s longtime friend and former-Audio Impulse and Seventh Wave bandmate, Alx Uy, as second guitarist.

Now a 5-piece family, their goal is to show you theVision. Their collective love of bands like Brand New, Thrice, The Used, Deftones, Turnstile, and so many others, has inspired them to create a band that brings that kind of youthful energy to every show they play. TheVision is giving that energy back for a new audience.
By Spring 2022, theVision had performed sold out shows at Philadelphia’s Milkboy and Graperoom, won two battle of the bands (hosted by Drowning Fish Studios and Light and Sound Studios) and begun recording their debut EP with Fred Mascherino (The Color Fred, ex-Taking Back Sunday). After successful shows at Kung Fu Necktie and the Foundry, and a slot on the Manayunk Arts and Music Festival, more is to come from these up-and-comers.
