About The Fifth
North Carolina's premiere rock-and-roll powerhouse "The Fifth" was founded in 2001 by Roy Cathey (Cold Sweat, Gibraltar). Affectionately nicknamed "Mouth of the South", Cathey would recruit multiple lineups until finally landing with drummer Gary "Zeus" Smith (Aittala, Mr. Blackwell), guitarist Justin Womble (Modena), and bassist Jake Tripp (Cultus Black, Against Their Will).
Combining the soulful melody of the 80's with the raw aggression of the 90's, each song cements the band as unique, yet familiar and accessible to listeners of all styles. World-class vocals coupled with soaring guitar work sets the foundation for The Fifth's current catalog and beyond.
Formerly with EMG/Universal, the band signed with Head First Entertainment in 2014. The band released their new self titled EP on Vanity Music in late 2021 to rave international reviews. The first single and video "Shake Little Sister" has propelled the band to a new contract with Ron Keel's RFK Media label.
