About Taylor Haskins

Taylor Haskins is being hailed as one of the most original new voices on the trumpet today. Downbeat magazine named him one of it's '25 Trumpets of the Future', stating that Taylor displays "a probing, adroit lyricism and a gift for complex, imaginative composition." Icon magazine remarked that "his playing catches you off-guard in a most wonderful way", and the East Bay Express declared that "with musicians like Taylor Haskins, critics and marketing people need to formulate new genre terminology". Taylor has performed, recorded and toured the world playing a wide variety of music over the course of the past quarter-century; early stints included work with the Artie Shaw Orchestra and Maynard Ferguson's 'Big Bop Nouveau' and later with the Richard Bona Group, Guillermo Klein's 'Los Guachos', the Dave Holland Big Band (with whom Taylor won a Grammy™ award in 2005, for the album 'Overtime'), the Alan Ferber Big Band (nominated for a Grammy™ award in 2014 for the album 'March Sublime'), and most recently Nels Cline's forthcoming 'Lovers' project. Taylor has released five albums of original compositions: "Wake Up Call" (Fresh Sound - 2003), "Metaview" (Fresh Sound - 2008), "American Dream" (Sunnyside Records - 2010), "Recombination" (19/8 Records - 2011), and most recently "Fuzzy Logic" (Sunnyside Records - 2014), all of which have received widespread critical acclaim. Taylor has also been composing and producing music for media for nearly twenty years, and in the process he has contributed music to major films and scored dozens of national commercials. Taylor worked full-time for five years as an in-house composer for the cutting-edge music production team tomandandy™, composing music for many major commercial campaigns and films, as well as helping to develop and test proprietary music software that implemented artificial intelligence-based algorithms. The software eventually received a U.S. Patent. Taylor holds degrees in music from the Manhattan School of Music (MM, 1996) and the University of New Hampshire (BA, 1993). Originally hailing from the woods of Southern New Hampshire and having thrived as a musician in New York city for over 20 years, Taylor now resides in the Champlain Valley region of New York's Adirondack mountains. composer, trumpeter, synthesist, producer
