Phil Lesh

Wow! First time in the Cap! Loved it! Intimate Dead experience. Had a chance to meet Phil in Newark Airport the following Monday as everyone was returning home...awesome!

This was an amazing and special event with the great titan of bass and living legend Phil Lesh. The newly integrated horn section was amazing, in particular the sax player and vocalist who did a stellar vocal rendition of Eyes of the World, complete with Branford Marsalis evoking saxophone leads. I have never ever been to a Phil show that did not exceed my expectations and deliver 100%+ of what any Deadhead would hope to hear from any group performing the Dead's music. God bless Phil, barely two months from turning 83 and he is as sharp and on point as I've ever heard him play, which would include 71 times with the Grateful Dead. He sang the Saint Stephen lyrics without any sort of prompt in front of him, completely, from memory and nailed it to the letter. I hope and pray that Phil's health remains robust and he plays for as many more years as his heart desires, because our hearts desire it, as well! We love you Phil!

Phil never disappoints! His energy is incredible along with his guests, band mates and the venue… Nothing like seeing a show at the Capitol and especially with Papa Dead! Keep on Rockin Phil…. Know I love you not fade away! ✌🏼❤️😊

The Fans.Live cameraman was right in the way of the VIP side of the stage. There were complaints that the obstruction should have been on the basic ticket fee side of the midfield barrier. The performance by Phil & Friends was delightful. The strong mix from the sound engineers with the bass, was appropos... the distance between Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh and Nels Cline could have been closed, to enable them to play off of one another, trading leads. Oh yeah, it's Phil's show, not about extraordinary jamming guitar players. 🙄 The doubled up speaker arrays appeared to be a bit of overkill hanging from the side scaffolding. No big side screens like the Dreamfield stage, left viewers/listeners at the back of the audience wondering what was going on, onstage. Chimenti was sizzling on the keys, Mr. Molo was holding the beat well, in sync with the rest of the rhythm players. Even a short session, giving him a drum solo, an homage to Drums followed by letting Jeff kick it up a notch with some knobs and effects, a lá Space, would have been a treat. From Dire Wolf's opening to the closing vibrations of Ripple, it was a set for fans to absorb. Box of Rain could be Phil's Anthem, but it wasn't on the card in Bridgeview. The other Jeff, Tweedy, and Nels Cline, from Wilco, brought their A game. The lap steel guitar was a very nice little distinction showcasing Nels talents. The contributions from Tweedy's acoustic guitar, seemed out of place, but were woven in to warm and soften the melodies, adding Americana to the roots of the roots. For Tweedy to let Grahame Lesh cut loose with fuzz, stepping on his melodious "Via Chicago" actually demonstrated a hearty sense of humor and self-deprecating approach to what could have been too serious a rendition for the Dead fans to appreciate. Keep up the good work. Karl killed it! In a good way. He was clearly having fun, and stretched round from trills on the flute, to rockin' jams on Sax, stealin' the lead from anyone and everyone else. Well orchestrated Phil. The audience missed the explanation that is ever more important, to commit to organ donation, with a deeply seated, "Thank you Cody!" The story still needs to be told!

It doesn't get much better that the top shelf lineup of Phil and The Midnight Ramble Band. Had to travel 1 3/4 hrs to hear folks who live in my backyard. If I had only one criticism, I would have liked more Band tunes interspersed. Beena deadhead since '78 and can't get enough of them or the music of The Band. Incredible energy between all the musicians and the fans.

Being able to stream this show was fantastic. Thanks Mandolin! The show itself was excellent with Phil and the gang exploring fiddle and harp parts as well as pushing the limits on their own instruments.

Phil was amazing as always! What an honor to be able to still witness and listen to this amazing artist. If more people would only heed Bobby's words and STFU!

Great show. Glad to see them and hope this is an annual event with their appearance!

By far best show of the summer. That Rosemary was amazing and the jazz impro in Dark 🌟 outwardly. And hats of to Reverb and what they trying to do

So good in so many ways. Phil’s voice keeps getting better, his playing always interesting. Graham and Stu work so well together, intermingling solos. Dunno know who was on keys but he was great. His solos crushed, but we’re a little too buried in the mix, unfortunately. You could hear them… just didn’t cut thru the way the guitars did. Lots of exploring jams, with some straight gems (Loose Lucy, Scarlet) and great takes on some old regulars (Dark Star, Help-Slip- … -Franklin). If the rain hadn’t washed us away on our drive north, we would have gone all the way to Marymoor for another dose.

It was the place to be last night. Second set was epic. Some songs came together as probably the most well executed and purest version and of course the crowd couldn’t have been any better.

Seeing Phil is always a treat. Heavy jams and some great guitar work from Scofield. Rider, Eyes,Terrapin highlights!

So rad to see Phil and friends - show was rockin’ and we even got a tribute song to local Jimi Hendricks. Rock on!!

This was my first time seeing a member of the Dead live and I had such a fun time. They played so many great songs from the early Dead and just played so well with one another. Phil looks like he’s having a blast playing with his son and I love it. I’m definitely going to see Twiddle, Midnight North, and Phil Lesh next time any of them are in town.

Five stars but can’t get whole fifth star to change. One of the if not the best and highest energy Phil shows ever. Crowd was just as great as the show!!! Great time hands down! Loved every second of it and the set list was exceptional!’!!!!!!!!

Unreal. Warren Haynes and the the crew threw down real hard. Had a really interesting scarlet >she said she said & sunshine of your love & blue sky and the list goes on.
