About Parks

It’s been a long time coming, but Boston 5-some, Parks, who have reemerged this week out the back door of a difficult year with a brilliant new single and video, “Fools” are now enjoying an exclusive premiere with UNDER THE RADAR.

Says Parks frontman Brian E. King of the track: "The song is about leaving behind the seemingly endless obstacles in life — whether they're personal, romantic, or even creative ones. But also leaving behind negative people and not-so-great friends, too. I've felt a lot of loss in my life, and the concept of running out of time is terrifying, so hopefully, this is a little anthem for everyone dealing with the bullshit of everyday life and feeling trapped."

King has had to deal with more than his fair share of bullshit over the past year. In fact, it’s proven to be an emotional rollercoaster for Brian for a number of reasons, as he explains, “Making this album coincides with the worst time in my life. My mom died. The band lineup was in flux. My girlfriend, also my bandmate and best friend, and I broke up. I got diagnosed with stage-zero stomach cancer.” But while the personal upheavals for Parks’ main man understandably delayed the band’s general activity, the brightside benefit for Brian meant more contemplative pockets of time to listen to the new music objectively — time in between to assess what the songs needed. The result is an album, set for release early next year, that the band unanimously sees as a step up.
Parks’ first single, "Sweater Weather," hit 100K listens on Soundcloud, won the John Lennon Songwriting Competition and inspired folks like the Lumineers and Tennis to ask them to share their stages. It also prompted the BOSTON GLOBE to describe them as “a crisp and precise take on garage pop.”

Parks is Brian E. King, lead vocals/guitar, Eric Bolton on guitar, Andrew Jones on drums, Rob Johanson on bass, and Robin Melendez on backing vocals.
