About Panacea

There are by now 8 groups called "Panacea". The first one is a drum & bass producer, the second a hip-hop group out of D.C., the third a pop/rock band, the fourth a folk-dance band, the fifth a German students rock band, the sixth a Polish power violence - screamo - hardcore band, the seventh a jazz band, the 8th a short lived punk band from VA.

1. Panacea hip-hop
Panacea, comprised of producer K-Murdock and MC Raw Poetic, blend Native Tongues-inspired beats with warm major chords and soul samples and add smart, conscious rhymes about life, love, and of course, hip-hop. Their debut album 'Ink Is My Drink' released on Rawkus showed up in late 2006. Their sophmore album 'The Scenic Route' was released in 2007. Panacea is highly intertwined with Restoring Poetry in Music, which acts as their live band.

2. Panacea drum & bass
Mathis Mootz, the Teutonic mastermind and producer behind Panacea, has developed his sinister NOISE regime over the years fueled by wreck-step beats and sampling wizardry, meshing together elements of hardcore, drum & bass, and industrial into the most explosive of digital Molotov cocktails. Though Mootz nods in the direction of Ram Records, Virus Recordings, No U Turn and DHR camps, the music he designs as Panacea is a barrage of unsettling hardcore drum & bass that will level any standing structure, bringing it to rubble. Mootz's production and recording reign is not limited just to Panacea, as he also records experimental, electro, and neo industrial beats as Squaremeter, Disorder 2nd Gen, Warfare, Kate Mosh, Bad Street Boy, and Rich Kid. Mootz, at the age of 24, is far from being content, as there are more territories and dancefloors to be conquered. Mootz's home and studio are well-hidden on the property of a small wine farm in Sommerhausen (near Würtzburg) away from populations unaware of his mass digital armament of studio weaponry.

3. Panacea pop/rock
Panacea is also an Australian pop/rock band influenced by The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Radiohead, Gomez, Pixies, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pink Floyd.

4. Panacea folk-dance
Panacea is also an almost surprisingly authentic-sounding Berkeley California purist folk group specializing in traditional European dance music. Their album is available on Magnatune.

5. Panacea Emo-Rock
Panacea was founded in 2002 in the town of Bautzen (Saxony) by Sven Krause (vocals), Josef Holfeld (synth), Martin Knaack (guitar), Marcus Teubner (bass) and Stefan Leonhard (drums). The lyrics are sung in English and they have produced a limited edition demo record ("Light, Sound, How the Moment Sings"). From 2002-2004 they have gained regional recognition. After school they split up. The relicts can still be discovered on www.panacea.de.ms
