About Old Kerry McKee

The fourth largest island in Sweden is a paradoxical place; Hisingen with its amazing nature and quaint idyll share the land with some of the shabbiest and most infamous districts. From the salt-swept banks of suburban Gothenburg stems the one-man-orchestra known as Old Kerry McKee and 2010 marks the year of its birth. Through lyrics of love, death and loneliness OKM has established himself as an international advocate of the old-time american folk music and blues, yet has shrouded their elements in shadows from within to achieve a darker and more genuine sound. The release of his first EP "Black birds", including the instant favorite "These Old Shoes", landed him a contract with the Berlin-based record label "The Greatest Records". This was followed up by a tour through Europe and the UK with american musician "Declan De Barra", after which he also performed alongside "Bob Logg" at the swedish festival "Hultsfredsfestivalen" that gained a considerably wider audience and promising future prospects. He then packed his bags and moved out into a small cabin in the woods where he then proceeded to write his critically acclaimed debut album "wooden songs", which was released in late 2012. The album got him nominated for "Best Americana-award" at the swedish Manifestgalan along with First Aid Kit and The Tallest Man on Earth. Hitting the road once again , this time with the New York-based post punk band "Self-Defense Family", for a two week-tour across Europe. to be released through "HoboRec"on March 29, distributed by "Soundpollution", and relying on "Bored to Death Bookings" to pave its way. The music may be dark, but the future looks bright for Old Kerry McKee. Release date March 29
