About Nine O'Clock Gun

In the waning notes of 2012, High School friends Chuck Konopski (Bass) and brothers Rick (Guitar) and Brandon (Drums) Corness set out to find a frontman to complete their lineup. Their search led them to Corey Fenton, former guitarist of the now defunct rock group “The Stone Pines” (https://thestonepines.bandcamp.com). Not known on stage for his singing, Fenton had second thoughts about joining. However, the trio heard something special in the distorted vocal tracks of Corey’s demos and convinced him to give it a try.
The newly form band quickly began song-writing and finding the distinctive sound which would lay the foundation for their first EP released one year later (January 9th 2014), the night of their first show.
Recorded at Harbourside studios in North Vancouver with producer Mike Slater (Slow Wave Saga),
the self-titled 6 song EP did well earning a spot in Classic rock magazine’s Indie Compilation.

Shortly after the release, Chuck announced his approaching departure from the group in order to pursue career opportunities in Toronto. His last show with the band, a howler at the electric owl, featured local musical heavyweights “Grizzly Bones” and a mysterious acoustic set by former “The Coaliton” frontman, William john. Totally blown away by his performance, Corey recruited Will to be the lead guitarist for the reboot of the “The Stone Pines”. Although the project never did get off the ground, it did lead to Will’s assimilation into “Nine O’Clock Gun” as the new bassist and eventual lead guitarist when former Stone Pines bassist, Clark Buchanan, was asked to join.

The new quintet quickly gelled and set to work finishing off their follow up EP, STORMS, which had been put on hold following Chuck’s departure. Together with mastermind Eric Mosher (ericmosher.com), the band is putting the wax on a full length album by Spring 2017.
