About Niko
Haitian-American artist Niko first appeared on the music scene in 2012. Although she studied acting and musical theater growing up, singing and writing music was always a passion. She was brought on as a songwriting intern for indie label Titanium Music Group under Damon Eden (BadBoy/Capital). Soon after she began to take writing for herself more seriously and used the connections she made from the label to start her own project. Influenced by the likes of ABBA, Cher, Janet, Beyonce, Dawn Richard, and Bloc Party just to name a few; she set out to make music that was both honest to her identity as a self-proclaimed "Unikorn" as well as, in her words just plain "dope music".
In 2015 she met Composer-Producer Matty Marz and they instantly clicked. With their eclectic styles and 90's dance throwback sound they began making music together. Her haunting angelic vocals and his "club kid" experimental mixes were a match made in heaven. Their first collaboration together was "Come and Get It" a 90's vogue inspired track with hints of Janet Jackson sultriness.
Performing in venues like Arlene's Grocery, Hell Phone, Sugar Bar, and The Studio at Webster Hall she got the attention of the underground music community and started to make a buzz. She even won Best Pop/ Alternative R&B Alex Award at the 2016 Ashford and Simpson Sugar Bar Indie Music Awards.
From 2016 to early 2017 she was recruited and joined a multi-cultural K-POP project group, BSG. After a few performances throughout the KPOP scene in the North East, the group has since disbanded. She was later offered an opportunity to go solo but she decided to continue working independently and team up with Marz to write and record her forthcoming EP.
In 2017, Niko and Matty both met albanian producer Naser Van Detta and the power trio behind Niko's latest single was formed. "Never Letting You Go" is the first collaboration for the trio and it is already getting plays worldwide along with great reviews. Have a listen and see for yourself!
