About Matt Fax

How many people could state they started at a such young age ? Passionated by music since his most tender age, he quickly been fascinated by DJing at the age of 8, and decided to produce his own music at the age of 13. Having used numerous aliases, his music caught the ear of legends like Laurent Garnier at the first place, as well as Depeche Mode which ended using one of his tracks as pre-show track during their Delta Machine Tour between 2012 and 2013.

Being 14 at that time and having given up his first alias for a second one, he been able to release a remix for Moguai on deadmau5’s label mau5trap, as well as continuing of improving his sound though multiple releases.

But early 2012 suddenly saw the birth of a new kid on the block, someone nobody saw coming - Matt Fax. A new kid that been making a name of himself very quickly since his first EP « Invisible / Deadline », thanks to his unique signature of Progressive, Trance and Techno that caught the ear of numerous music lovers, labels and DJs. While releasing a huge number of tracks on small independent labels, Matt started gaining support from recognized DJ’s like Above & Beyond and Jaytech among others.

Matt then shown himself very productive in 2013. Releasing his debut EP « Late Night/Broadway » on Enhanced Music sub-label Colorize, the title track had the Record of the Week spot on Above & Beyond’s radio show Group Therapy and Matt quickly been one of the most played artist on the show, as stated by the trio. As a result of that, he made his debut on Anjunabeats, and been invited on Group Therapy for a guest mix, as well as hosting a couple episodes of Anjunabeats Worldwide.

Keeping on releasing a constant number of music throughout the year, his 2014 single « Shift » particularly received a huge wave of supports from top Trance DJs around the world, but also from renowned magazines such as DJ Mag, which described the track as « One of the year’s best big room Trance records ».

After a 6 month break, Matt came back to the scene in 2015 with the now classic « Going Down/Hyperspace » EP. Not only the fact the EP reached #10 on the Beatport Releases Top 100, but it also been highly supported on almost every show throughout the year. It also found a place in a couple of festivals such as the A State of Trance Festival in Mumbai, where Armin van Buuren played the title track in front of millions of music lovers. Armin been since then very supportive of Matt’s work, from premiering his Zerothree debut « Supertaper » on his radio show, to giving him the opportunity to release a couple of singles and EPs on Armada Music’s sub-label Statement!. Later singles like « Tumble », « Moonlight », « Alpenglow », « Aeris » (in collaboration with Jaytech) or « Astral Ride » and EPs like « Belong / Mirth » or « CNFS / Stuck » been heard in various radio shows and radio stations such as Sirius XM.

This year saw Matt step up his game with singles like « Warmrider » and « Vina », as well as the great « Wrath » EP, but he showed back on Anjunabeats with an incredible remix for Boom Jinx and Aruna’s single « Light as a Feather », which been critically acclaimed and led into a new Group Therapy guest mix, where Matt showcased his abilities for shifting genres. In the meantime, he also been invited on the Armada Night Radio show and hosted a new episode of Anjunabeats Worldwide. Soon after, he made his UK debut at the mighty Ministry of Sound in London, which makes him the youngest French artist to play there.

As a celebration of 4 years of an incredible evolution, Matt is releasing a couple of tracks on Colorize, in the first form of the « Careless / Huntdown » EP, which is scheduled on May 6, and already receiving an amazing response from fans and DJs.

His inspirations doesn’t stop to the electronic music spectrum, he regularly quotes Jon Hopkins, Radiohead, deadmau5, Boards of Canada, Eric Prydz, Jaytech, Autechre or Aphex Twin as being his main inspirations.

Matt Fax is not only considered as a musician, but as a potential trend-setter. Some medias and artists already dubbed him as « the son of Eric Prydz », big shoes to fill but Matt already demonstrated he has all the capacities to wear the title.

With over 20 singles in 4 years and a huge list of impressive accomplishments, it’s clear that Matt Fax is taking over the electronic music industry by storm, but the best is yet to come.
