About Jimmie Chesh
James Matthew Cheshire (Jimmie Chesh) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 26, 1987. He’s lived in Salt Lake City most of his life. His family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1991, and returned to Utah in 1995. He also served a 2-year full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 2007 to 2009.
Coming from a musical family, it was only natural that he’d fall in love with the guitar at a young age. Starting when he was 12, he quickly picked up the basics, followed by tablature. He spent the next few years learning covers by some of his favorite artists, including Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Collective Soul, Switchfoot, Jason Mraz and Jars of Clay, to name a few.
He then began writing his own music and performing at local cafés, which led him to his first recording in 2006, Open Mic. Over the next few years, Chesh continued to perform at local venues, including Club Vegas and The Outer Rim.
Jimmie’s debut EP, The Way Back Home is his long awaited first full band professional recording that took a total of three years to complete. It involves songs written between 2009 to 2015. The song Impossible was written while in the studio and wasn’t originally a part of the EP.
