About Jenn Summers

New York City singer/songwriter Jenn Summers has been busy since she signed with indie label Noble Steed Music and enjoyed the successful release of her first full-length album, When Live Gives You Lemons. The charming, chipper debut put her on the map as a bright, sunny East Coast answer to the surf-shack music that so typically comes from California or Hawaii - The Beach Boys, Jack Johnson, and Colbie Caillat, to name a few. “Most people are shocked when they find out I’m from New York,” Summers laughs. “Based on my music, you’d think I’m from a beach town.” With its cheerful, jangly ukulele, simple acoustic arrangements, and upbeat lyrics, Catching Fireflies is a thematic continuation of When Life Gives You Lemons, and serves as yet another personal reminder from Summers that with the right attitude, any challenge can be defeated. “I went through a very painful breakup over the past year, and writing the songs on this album really got me through it,” Summers explains. In fact, Summers’ favorite song on the album is the title track, “Catching Fireflies” – with its buoyant, sanguine melody, you’d never know it was a breakup song. Fittingly, Summers caught the concept like lightening in a jar when she was watching fireflies in Washington Square Park on an August New York night. “I had been struggling with writing an uplifting breakup song that had the same quirky feel as ‘When Life Gives You Lemons, Make L.O.V.E "Jenn explains. “And then ‘Catching Fireflies’ came to me.” 2014 is already looking like it could be Summers’ breakout year. The petite ukulelist is gearing up for a CD release show at Rockwood Music Hall on June 18, filling up her calendar with dates in beach towns across the country, and making plans for a potential music video for the album’s title track. But the accomplishment Summers is most proud of? “Playing live in New York City. A lot of people take it for granted, but the fact that I’m able to get up there and perform is something I never thought I’d be able to do.” With her sweet voice and winsome songs, Summers won’t just be “Catching Fireflies” - she’ll be catching the ears and hearts of listeners around the world. " Summers’ voice is the perfect summer balm." -Wildy's World. http://bit.ly/1gyE8WW Catching Fireflies, now on ITUNES !!!
