About Hoover

There is more than one artist with the name Hoover:

1) Hoover was an American punk rock (or post-hardcore) band from Washington, DC. Hoover was formed in 1992, and went on to produce some of the more intense music to appear on the Dischord Records label in the 1990s. Unusually, three of the four members shared vocal duties equally. They are often credited as being a progenitor of math rock along with bands like Drive Like Jehu; indeed, while the band did definitely display influences from DC indie pioneers Fugazi, they also drew comparisons to DLJ and other non-DC bands. Hoover split up in 1994, and have reformed twice: once in 1997 to record a mini-album of 'odds and ends', and again in 2004 to tour the US and Europe. It is not clear whether the band will continue to be active. Other projects in which members of Hoover have been involved include The Crownhate Ruin, June of 44, and Regulator Watts.

2) Hoover was also the first name of the Belgian trip-hop group Hooverphonic. Their first album, A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular containing the 1995 hit 2Wicky, was released under that moniker. But following legal action from the aforementioned punk rock band from the US, they changed their name to Hooverphonic.

3) Hoover! is a band from Holland. While originated in Maastricht, they decided to pursue their music career in the Amsterdam region.
The original lineup of 2005 consisted of: Sander Baks (Guitars & Vocals). The band was completed by Peter-Paul Kruisen (Bass Guitar), Daniel Wolfs (Drums) and Renier Hahn (Guitars). In the year 2008 Hoover found their new drummer: Aldo Sanso

Discography:

- 2005: Hoover!
- 2008: Re-Birth (Live EP)
- 2009: Uncertain Things

Their music is often described as a mix of Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters.
