About Figure of Six

Figure of Six: Clear the stage for insanity Figure of Six use style drawers to jumble up their contents. Progressive? Yes: the ideas. Catchy? Why, yes: the refrains. Brutal? But of course: the verses. Spherical? Hell, yes: the intros. Over all that singer Alessandro Medri bombs in high-speed growls á la White Chapel, rages with the Suicide Silence witch or sashays about crystal clear metalcore harmonies which remind of Bring me the Horizon. Out of the subsoil Djent-guitars are thundering, the bright heights glitter with electronic beats. And out of nowhere pours forth a catchy hook – just right up to the minute. The fourth album, Welcome to the Freak Show, will be in stores on May 26 2017. “Our metal is a little bit schizophrenic”, muses Matteo Troiano, bandleader and one of two guitarists. “We totally dig new stuff, however we respect our roots. “ Figure of Six’ actual roots go back till 1996, their musical ones till the Sixties – to Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane and the Beatles. They are influenced by Led Zeppelin, Guns’N’Roses as well as metal legends like Iron Maiden, Korn and Dimmur Borgir. And there is one thing at least, Figure of Six have learnt from their elders: solid songwriting. Of that the six Italians have given prove ever since the debut album, Step One, in 2005. Not only does MTV Holland broadcast the official video to the song Go Away, single tracks even caught the attention of Iron Maiden front man Bruce Dickinson. And he has them air played on his BBC6 radio show. Critics favor the debut’s “brutal riffs, samples, loops, synthesizer, growls, rap and melodic choruses” and call them a successful “mixture of Linkin Park and Slipknot”, some find more similarities with Static-X, Dope and Index Case. The sophomore album Aion (2008) is marked by the German Rock Hard as „the handiwork meets up with unnatural power and catchy tunes“. The Austrian Stormbringer is completely thrilled by this „masterpiece“: “The music reminds of past climaxes of the house of Soilwork, however, the music sounds very independent and offers brilliant moments en masse. This might be the first exceptional album of the year.” In the German DJ-Charts Aion rank 30th. After that Rock Hard praises the 2012 th Brand New Life as “pleasantly free of stereotypes”: “Usual ingredients like heavy staccato riffs and accented double-bass attacks contrast with varying vocals and novel keyboards.” All that works live perfectly, as the sestet has proved over and over again, first as support to the Nu-Metal band Dry Kill Logic in Italy. Later they accompanied the German thrash legend Destruction through Italy and Switzerland and played with Dillinger Escape Plan, Poison the Well and Hatesphere. Figure of Six rocked the Krock festival and hit the stage of the Eternity of Rock festival with Apokalyptische Reiter. In the meantime the six Italians have found a new front man - Alessandro Medri and recorded the fourth album with him: Welcome to the Freak Show, a concept album. Since Medri is a fan of Decadentism, the French poet Arthur Rimbaud and Dante’s divine comedy, the lyrics of the ten songs deal with the abnormality and monstrosity of the human being. “You enter the tend, expecting to marvel at freaks. Yet the stage is covered in mirrors and the only creature you see – is the monster inside yourself”, Medri summarizes his philosophy. “Truth! Before insanity” he therefore growls in the album’s first song, called Welcome to the freak show. Welcome to the Freak Show will be available on May 26 2017 through Bleeding Nose Records.
