Day of the Dead is a hardcore band from Portugal.

Day Of The Dead was formed in May [yearformed]2001[yearformed], as a weapon to express our personal feelings and beliefs. DOTD's main purpose is to fight against all the apathy that is poisoning today's punk/hardcore scene. Sharing different seeds of discontentment about several issues related to the realities of our lives, DOTD tries to instigate reflection and discussion. DOTD's existence upholds five different subversive mentalities that try to express their views on concepts that (in our point of view), are slowly fading in present times, either in a socio-political, or in a personal view. DOTD does not try to fit in... DOTD is not just about riffs or agressive music. DOTD is a quest... A quest for a better and fulfilling existance. It's about a search for the real essence and meaning of Life. DOTD is our truest, deepest and most sincere way to pursue a better life. Through a conscious lifestyle, DOTD tries to abolish the empty and superfluous ideas/assets that infest the standard ways of living. DOTD abhors all forms of excesses... from the excesses of control, oppression or cruelty, to the excesses of restrictions in our everyday life. We try not to consume or depend on death. We want to take control of our own lives. We want to liberate ourselves from the chains of industrialization, capitalism, right wing politics, racism... We want to liberate ourselves from all forms of prejudices. Foundations based upon a more rational, ethical and healthier way of living, like being vegetarian or vegan are important tools to brighten the destuctive impact that goes on everyday... it has an impact on many lives... and specially it has a big impact on your personal life... We also believe that straight edge can be used as a positive weapon to free yourself from the chemicaly sedated and artificial world we're living in, if it's used with purpose. DOTD is about a personal awakening, a conscious liberation from the industries that sell you diseases and addictions, keeping your eyes closed to the joys and beauties of life. DOTD is about progression... It's about an important step we took in order to better ourselves as rational individuals. We stand for freedom of expression. We don't want to set standards... we want you to think for yourself. Perhaps this will never mean to you what it means to us, but we hope you enjoy listening, reading and perhaps thinking a little bit about this. The road is far from its end. Education and knowledge are still important tools to keep you aware of what's going on in this world. Move forward. Leave your mark...
